Handicrafts
The crafts have a great tradition in this region, particularly the ceramics, paste (pasta) and (jewelry) plateria in the old and traditional neighborhood of San Blas and textiles in the communities of Chinchero, Pisac and Huilloc (Wílloc), where they use ancestral techniques and simbology. Among the most known products, highlights the famous “Niños manuelitos” (of Antonio Olave and Gregorio Béjar), the saints with long necks (of Mendívil) and the stylized human images, a show of the called grotesc ceramic art (of Mérida). In addition, there are fine works in silver, candles, statures in wood and paste works like altarpieces and masks, as well as production of keros, aryballos and vases.
