At two blocks from the main square is the convent of Santo Domingo, that was constructed on the most important temple dedicated to the cult of the Inca Sun (the father Sun). According to the Spanish chroniclers, it had a great part of its compartments and walls covered with gold laminae (Kori means: gold and Cancha: place). It has underground galleries that continue being a mystery for the archaeologists. It also conserves valuable paintings of La Escuela Cusqueña.
