Canas
The cold province of Canas was created on October 14 of 1833. Canas is known by its famous and legendary lagoons: Layo, Tungasuca and Languilayo. The province has an extension of 2 103.76 km ² and a population of 43,481 inhabitants (estimation to year 2000), they are distributed in their 8 districts: Yanaoca, Checca, Condorcanqui, Langui, Layo, Pampamarca, Quehue and Túpac Amaru. Its capital is Yanaoca, at 3,913 meters above sea level.
The traditional beauty of Canas can totally be appreciated during the farming fair of Pampamarca, celebrated on January 14, in which Saint Hilario is wordship.
